304 or 316?
WP304 is the general-purpose austenitic grade. WP316 adds 2–3% molybdenum (16–18% Cr, 10–14% Ni, 2–3% Mo), which is why it is chosen for chloride-bearing and more corrosive service. The L grades (304L, 316L) have lower carbon and are preferred where fittings are welded. Stabilised 321 and 347 are used at elevated temperature.
